  1. ibycus314 thank you for this really useful information. Yesterday i made my first test map for my Garmin colorado 400t after watching your video. But i have some questions.
Is there any way to get advantage of already created google maps? Can we use them for creating .img file? And my seller provided me 2gb microsd card with worldwide base map in it for my device. But i don’t know how to unlock it, so it doesnt appear as a map on my device. If you know something that can be helpful i will be

  2. There are a few projects underway in different areas (Google Calgary Trail Maps for an example). But pretty much any ‘outdoor’ Garmin GPS will do the job you’re looking for.

  3. Thanks for the information. Basically what I want to do is map out 4×4 trails in relatively uncharted area. Because its not a common use for Nav systems, its hard to find the info I need.

  4. You mean the trail data? I used a Garmin 60CS. A lot of them will, although not quite all. Basically, what you need is any GPS that supports a “Tracklog”, which is most (although some of the Nuvis don’t)

  5. What Garmin unit did you use to gather the data? Do they all do it? Thanks!
