How to upload maps to a garmin gps using a usb cable?

i have a garmin nuvi 205, y plug in the cable and there are a bunch of folders and files… i know the file must be a .gz, but that’s it… where do i have to put that .gz file? do i have to name it something specific?

i haven’t tried with the micro sd card… is it the same?
but i’ve found lots of pages to download maps! i’ve even downloaded a bunch of them!

  1. Get the Garmin webupdater here:

    http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

Install it on your computer. You will be able to get product updates for free. Maps on the other hand are not free.
